Inspection
April 2009:
As a Church School, soon after having an OfSTED
inspection, an inspector who works for the Diocese, visits the
school for a (long) day, talks with staff, parents children and
governors, looks at all our documentation, and then writes a
report. As well as having
a brief to comment on specifically Christian aspects of the
school, they have also look in detail at children's wider
moral, spiritual, social and cultural development and how good
the school is at fostering these. It paints a very positive picture and is
worth a read !Download

confidential survey for all parents with children in the school. All

and developments.

SATs & Opinion Polls
Updated with
results & targets 2007-11 here
New Dec
2009
As a headteacher, the temptation is to deal
with SATS results in the same way that politicians deal with opinion
polls; pretend to ignore them or claim they are wrong when they are
negative and say how wonderful and valid they are when they are
positive! However for three years running the pupils and teachers
and teaching assistants in the school have achieved very good
results. The headlines are:
Four points:
1. The
targets we use for all individual children and the year group are the
most challenging ones set by the Government, reaching them puts the
school in the top 25% of schools in the country.
2. Lower
ability and special needs children for the past three years have made
above average progress (final figures for the 2008 group aren’t out
yet).
3. South
Glos Data analysis shows that children are making good progress
throughout the school,
the current year 5’s
(after two years in the school) are half way towards the ‘top targets’.
We do not and will not reduce Year 6 to SATS cramming!
4. All
of this has been achieved with more, not less, music art, sport and
interesting project work that cuts across curriculum subjects!
